Do people laugh at your library books?

My library also allows you to renew the books online. All you need is your library card & name to register.trying-very-trying wrote: »If you just phone the library on the day that the books are due back, they will renew them over the phone for you. At least my library does this.0 -
I borrow lots of books from the library & don't find that anyone laughs at me because of it, but some people do say that it's less hassle to buy the book. I prefer borrowing over buying for 2 reasons; 1) the amount of books I read I can't afford to buy them all, & 2) most of the books I only read once0

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. I love my local library - I can see it from my bedroom

I borrow loads of books, as do the kids. I've just discovered that they now let you borrow the magazines too - before you could only read them in the library. So rather than spending £1-3 on a magazine, I can borrow it for a week for free. (And the plastic cover stops it getting damp in the bath

We love the library! I take the bairns and they enjoy picking new books to read.
Our nearest is just a small village library, but if you ask for specific books they will find them at bigger branches and get them brought across. We can also go to the bigger town libraries, but take the books back to the small one. There's also an online service to request books and renew books.
They're very child friendly, so you can make a noise and the said they don't mind if books for under 5's come back with torn pages or scribbles in. My little one is pretty good though and has looked after all her books so far. Here I go again on my own....0 -

I love my local library!
I also work in a library and am about to embark upon a library masters course which makes me a total library dork but anyway....
They rock! And not only do you not have to pay for the book itself but nor do you have to pay for the shelving and the space for the shelving of the books. Not, you understand, that I'm against the books being in the house (you should see my house:eek:) but there has to be a line somewhere and I think my upstairs might be about to cave-in!
So anyway, yay libraries:j0 -

me and the kids are regulars in our small local library and they think its great having different stories all the time.
