Charged By T-Mobile To Send An SMS To An 07624 Prefix.
I have a Flex 35 W&W package with T-Mobile so I was surprised to find I had been charged £0.17 exc vat for a text to a 07624 prefix. The number looks like a normal mobile number but is classed as outside my package, has anyway else experienced this or has an explanation?
I can't find anything on the web site.
Cheers

It's an Isle of Man mobile number (though if the next digit is 8 it's actually a text service), which some of the main networks do not count as inclusive. You might have the same issue with for example 07797 which is Jersey and used with some text services. Also 07924, 07700, 07829, 07839, 07911, 07509, 07937 and others0

@Redux,
Thanks for the reply, you are correct the next number is an '8'.
I have been doing further searches and it seems that I am not alone with this question. It's the text number for 'Twitter' and there is no info on the site that although this is a 0044 number it will be charged as an international text.
Still you only get stung once!

I've heard that even Orange exclude these now, mainly because of Twitter becoming more popular. I don't know if it's actually true
You might read up about cheap sms using mobile Java programs which send an equivalent via data instead. Some are smsbug, Vyke and Fishtext, the last the cheapest at 1p to this destination at the moment. Free trial credit available on each. Martin's written an article about these, and using the forum search for these names would find you its discussion thread0 -
Thanks for the info Redux.
