Channel and settings should be OK, but we do have a DECT phone in the room right behind the PC and router. I haven't an alternative phone to use at the moment, would it help to move it as far away from the PC as possible?
BTW would it be a problem even if the phone wasn't actually being used to make/answer a call?
BB seems to work fine withour the wireless bits.I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

I had this problem last year and it cured itself over the winter until the last few days when it has started again. If the computer is on and running there is no problem, but after the computer has been shut down the router loses the connection and has to be restarted when the computer is turned on again.
I've a feeling that these routers run too hot and a couple of warm sunny days is too much for them.0 -
I haven't tried using ours for ages, but when I was messing around with it yesterday I did notice that it was very hot.I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

We had exactly the same problem until we moved our wireless connector on top of the TV. Basically, our ISP, Virgin, told us that it was too far away from the connection so by moving it we solved the problem and have had no issues for the last few months.
Hope this helps.

i had the same problem and eventually worked out it was the wireless video sender connected to the sky box causing the router to drop the signal,so i disconnected the video sender and problem curedIf you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of payments.0

I had a similar problem with my Linksys router, it kept losing connection. I fixed this by upgrading the firmware. If you have the latest firmware it may be worth rolling back to an older version. You can't con an honest man!0

We constantly have this problem with our Belkin G router. We've had this one (upgraded from a Belkin b with the same problems) for just over the year now, and it's suddenly started to do this over the past few weeks.
The BB connection to the cable modem is fine, but it's the router that just drops it for no apparent reason. Sometimes repeatedly over the space of a few minutes.
We have 2 PCs and a laptop each connected wirelessly to the router, plus my wired connection to it (as I'm right next to the thing).
We have changed the channel setting (and disabled SSID broadcasting) but I do know that there is another Belkin G on an adjacent channel. There are several other local wireless systems (all still broadcasting SSIDs and mostly unsecured...idiots!) but they are spread out on the channel list so there is no big gap to choose from to reset to a new channel.
I have even tried disabling/enabling XP's Zero Wireless Config as suggested elsewhere but it makes no difference.
I'd love to find a solution to this as it's driving us nuts!0 -
Belkin Users::
1. in the address bar in IE type: 192.168.2.1
2. click on settings in the wireless subpanel of the webpage that appears
3. change the number in the dropdown box
4. click apply changes
Thank you, thank you Dan! Through your helpful post I've actually been and changed my settings. I had absolutely no idea where to start before! I will feel a lot happier about my wireless connection now I feel it's more secure!:T:j Addicted to money saving0 -
Hi
I have read loads of stuff on MSE this morning and am now a bit overwhelmed. The situation is as follows:
I have a Virgin Broadband package and accept that the speed is not good because of distance from the exchange.
The main pc is linked to a netgear modem router via ethernet cable (in the study); I can pick up wireless on a laptop in the lounge area (bungalow with stud partition walls) but my son cannot connect his laptop in his bedroom in the room next door to the lounge.
I am de[erate to sort this out. Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks0
