United Kingdom = GB plus its colonies.
GB = England, Wales, Scotland, NI.

No, Great Britain is actually the island of england, wales and scotland. Became United Kingdom of GB &NI when Rep of Ire got independence in 1922(ish-although was called the Irish Free State then) I don't know what they called it when the whole of Ireland was under british rule, can't remember....

I know there was a bit of "disucssion" around the olympics last year with it always being team GB, as it used to be "athletes representing GB &NI....)

But I apologise, I am just being picky, I tend to be with these sort of things. Main thing is, hopefully OP now realises Derry is not abroad
