Double Glazing - trickle vents as standard?
Comments
-
I had all my windows replaced last year and was advised by the installer that trickle vents aren't obligatory, are unecessary and just make the frames look uglier.
On our windows, and i'm sure like most others, there is a slight opening setting which lets ventilation through a bit.0 -
We live on a new build development. The earlier houses do not have trickle vents. They do have a ventilation system in the lofts. We particularly chose this house as it had trickle vents. We like the air change and the vents are open all the time. We would not have bought it without trickle vents as it isn`t good to live in a sealed box0

May I say its good to have a nice circulation of air :T
And for those who want trickle vents they are very easy to fit you can get a vent for about a fiver each and all you have to do is align the vent upto the area on the frame of where you would like it to go, usually just underneath the main part of the frame and in the opener its self, then mark around it and drill holes along the length of the vent with an 8mm drill bit in the opener frame and not the window frame its self.. and then just screw in each side of the vent, very easy indeed..
Some folk put the vents in the main Window frame I prefer to put them in the
opener as an opener has holes at the bottom for water run off.0
