    Why don't you ask your landlord if you can leave as soon as he finds someone new? :confused: Not all landlords are ogres. My job moved location so I called my landlord and he said no worries, I just pay rent until he or I have found someone suitable.

    Wrong. There is no six month minimum on an AST.

    However, its unlikley in this case that the breakclause can be activitated less than six months in to the AST.

    I stand corrected - it changed in 1997. My book on renting is clearly VERY out of date!
