I had a jelly brainwave and it worked

I've had a can of evaporated milk and a jelly lurking in my cupboards for ages and I made a mousse out of them. Heres how:
Boil half pint of pasteurised milk in a saucepan and add to the jelly cubes,
Stir till dissolved,
Add half pint of evaporated milk and leave to set.
It makes a lovely creamy mousse type dessert and is a nice change from ordinary jelly.

We used to have this when we were kids - although I think we just whipped the evap milk into the jelly when it was cold, but not set and then put it back in the fridge. It was a party treat

Mmmm - you got me thinking - I have both of these in the cupboards. Wonder if my ever so fussy boys will eat it

Thanks black saturn, i'd forgot about this dessert! We used to do it the whisked way and leave the jelly until it was nearly set and then whisk the whole lot together.
I'm going to try your way and see hwat the others think, the pineapple jelly is a good one as I have a pineapple lurking around I could serve with it!0 -

Pineapple has an enzyme in it that breaks down protein, this includes gelatine. You can safely use a tin of pineapple as it has been heat-treated and the enzyme destroyed.0 -
sorry Halloweenqueen I've just read your post properly and realise you're going to serve the pineapple with it.Sorry!!

Still, info might be of use to someone
