Wooden blinds - where from?

Options
Hi

We'd really like to get some light coloured wooden blinds to replace our current aluminium ones, however we don't want to spend a fortune :)
Does anyone have any personal recommendations of where to start look to compare prices? Am looking at ready made and made to measure - some places there doesn't seem to be much difference in price!
(windows are approx 61" by 50")

Thanks in advance

I found that dunelm mill had the cheapest wooden blinds (unfortunately found them after I'd bought most of the blinds for my house though!). they're actually a better design than the more expensive ones I've got, the wooden piece that hids the rail clicks on and actually stays in place.

Dunelm, Ikea and even B&Q are quite good for blinds albeit I am not sure on your sizes. I've had problems with the drop and width sizes for large windows and also it depends whether you want them inside or outside the window.

For made to measure I've used:

Ok, here's a quick tip for you.

Hillary's blinds have two online subsidiaries which provide exactly the same products as Hillary's, but at a fraction of the cost. This does however mean that fitting and measuring needs to be done by the buyer (no huge issue and really simple to do)

The first subsidiary is Web Blinds, which I find the more expesive. The second is Blind Supermarket: http://www.blinds-supermarket.co.uk/

Take your measurements (online guide on how to measure), and get online quotes. You can order free samples too. The best bit is that there are a few discounts you can apply for extra savings. Use The following code for an additional 10% off: BSAFF

And make your you go through Quidco, for an additional 15% cashback. Deliveries usually take 5days, and come with the fitting instructions.

When you compare the prices of these blinds against high street ones, such as B&Q, IKEA, Dunelms or Wilkos, they are more expensive. Bare in mind they are made to measure, and the quality is miles apart.

Have bought ours made to measure from www.wooden.blinds-direct.co.uk
(Go through quidco for extra discount.
Had narrow wood blinds in my last house but this time have gone for white , wider boards and they seem to give the rooms much more light and space.

If you can get access, then Makro is worth checking.
They have a good range of blinds and are competitive on price.
Just remember to check if the price quoted is ex or incl VAT.
  • Ive just done a price comparison between www.blinds-supermarket.com and www.polesandblinds.com it was for a made to measure 50mm wooden venetian blind size 123cm x 123cm, poles and blinds.com came out £5.80 cheaper than blinds supermarket. They are also using the same 10% extra discount code as blinds supermarket.

http://www.interiordecordirect.co.uk/ I was recommended these after reading a previous thread on here last year. Bought 8 in total and was very pleased with price, quality and service.
