Where do you think the FTSE 100 is going on Monday? It retested the 3453/3454 level nicely before its close on Friday and moved up a good bit.
So will it continue to rise because its been through the worst or is it going to continue to fall?

Anybodies guess really, nothing has changed in the economic landscape, we are still in a bear market, I doubt very much if it has "been through the worst" that would only leave the question, can we find some news to give us an excuse for a bear market rally, on a daily and weekly basis the markets are oversold here, it's quite likely we are due a bounce soon imho.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

I agree. We're going to see a bounce very soon, but I don't believe we've seen the bottom yet. The problem is that the general expectation was that all the "bad news" had already been factored in, but the losses keep on coming and the various stimulus packages just don't seem to be doing the job.Mmmm, credit crunch. The long term bias is down, every perspective shows this though some stocks are good value they may not rise to reflect it till medium term shows their dividends are actually stable
Short term is always tricky, some excellent company results in technology or some outperforming sector might break the trend
Recent predictions for global growth is that we will receive the first recession since world war two
Future growth in inflation would favour stocks over bonds and cash afaik0 -
the trend is your friend until the bend at the end.
I don't see any bend yet - hard to be anything but bearish.0 -
Keep looking for the hockey stick :laugh:0

Well my predication in that recent FTSE prediction thread was 3500 would mark the bottom of the market. I hadn't expected to get here quite so quickly but I'll optimisticly stick by it.
I also said I would start cautiously investing on a monthly basis when the stock market got to this level so if it it stays here on Monday I'd better put my money where my mouth is.0 -
With so many financials and mining/oil stocks making up a fair chunk of the ftse100, do I think we have hit the bottom, no way!
The economy is in deep poo and plenty more bad news to come from both here and from the USA.
3250 will be the next level tested within the next 2-3 weeks imho, can I see 3000 being breached within the next 4-6 weeks, yes.
UKplc is broke, getting more heavily into debt, a million extra people chucked on the dole this year, nobody is spending me old mucka.0 -
But the good newz is Mandy got a carton of green goo chucked over him. Roll on the next general election.Liquidity is when you look at your investment portfolio and **** your pants0

I think you're brave. I'd wait for some resistance to develop, otherwise we could be all the way down to the 28xx ....Mmmm, credit crunch. Tasty.0 -
I want markets to fall for this week, then the next week for them to go back up. I am buying more units for my funds on the 10th.0
