Free Bags

Asda have bags available for free.
We do a big shop every 2-3 weeks and it costs over £200, so even if I had to pay for bags it would not be an issue in context of the whole cost of the shopping.
There is no way I will take bags back to the shop. We re-use them for other things
Do shops mind when you use their competitors bags?0 -
Personally I couldn't care less whether they like it or not! :rotfl:Do shops mind when you use their competitors bags? Thanks to all who post constructively.
Have an A1 day!0 -
I get a mix of shame and also cheeky joy at strolling around Tesco's with a bright orange Sainsbury's "Try something new today..." bag...and then get green clubcard points for it. As long as you're buying their products they can't complain.

Have had a few occasions where shops have refused to give me bags. You feel like you're on the old "Crackaajack" programme for those of that era. Or is it a ploy to make is buy bin bags. I always re-use mine though usually as bin bags. For a planned shop I nearly always have bags with me but sometimes forget as we all do.0

Me neither :rotfl:
I'm all for using a bag for life but dislike the fact I'm paying for something emblazoned with a supermarket's name.0 -
I like my Waitrose one with the nice pictures of crabs and tasty food. Gets me some 'orrible looks from checkout ladies at Tesco and Iceland though!0

doing away with free bags is another ''stealth '' tax.
freebe bags are tax deductable

I hate the 'bag police' that lurk on some of the tills in my local Asda - one particularly officious one doles them out one at a time but only after she's made sure that the previous one is chockablock full and you've asked her for another one! She even opened up the little paper takeaway curry bag and started putting things in there until I politely told her to stop.
I'm all for doing my bit to help the environment and do try to reuse my bags but I think the supermarkets should be putting more into the development of biodegradable bags. I know the free ones in my local Co-op are supposed to break down 18 months after manufacture, if they can do it why not the others?0 -
I reuse carrier bags for used litter, bin liners etc. SoI don't see the issue . If i didn't use the carrier bags i would be buying bin bags so its not solving the landfill issue.
What they should do is ensure all carrier and binbags are biodegradeable.0 -
i dont mind paying for bags that are plain or with pictures but i refuse to pay to advertise a shop on a bag0
