Advice please...

Hi,
i bought and paid for a ticket on Tuesday to a concert that is on tomorrow but it hasn't arrived yet. I emailed the seller and he said he posted it on yesterday, Saturday. It;s going to arrive tomorrow but needs to be signed for but no one will be in to sign for it and the earliest it can be picked up from the post office depot will be tuesday morning - the day after the concert. Any idea's on what to do - if it arrives after the gig am i entitled to a refund seeing the guy took 4 days to post the ticket (if he sent in before friday it could have been picked up in time)?

Thanks for any suggestions,
Damo

Yes you should get a refund! He should have ensured that you got the tickets before the concert!

To post the tickets on Saturday when the concert is on the Monday is really not at all good enough and I would want a refund too!

A way round it though is there no neighbours who could sign for them?

This is very very tricky, ebay don't actually specify how quickly something needs to be sent out and a quick look on the help pages doesn't show anything about a claim being allowed for 'late' items, only lost or not as described. If you paid by paypal then again you only have the options of non arrival or not as described.

Your best hope to be frank is that they don't arrive at all then you can claim for loss.

I'm sure I'm missing something else obvious here and I'm sure other regulars on here may hav ebetter advice, but logic doesn't play much part on ebay, so expecting tickets by a certain date is not a condition of sale.

Also most ticket sellers on ebay are touts so not covered by any regulations. If you bought from an official ticket seller then you may have more luck in appealing to their good nature to help you out here, but I'm sure any real ticket seller would have gone out of their way to ensure delivery by special delivery in time for the concert.

thanks guys, was sort of thinking along the same lines. the only reason i got the ticket was cos it was about a 1/3 of face value but i suppose that's all part of the risk. no neighbours either to sign for it but i'll see what happens tomorrow and look for a refund if it doesn't show in time.

    Thanks again

If I were in your place I would ask a neighbour to sign for the tickets and maybe leave a note for the postman with their house/flat number. I don't think (but I may be wrong) that you would get a refund if they don't reach you on time. Good luck.

You have to ask yourself, is it the sellers fault you cant sign for it to receive it in time?

that's sort of why i was asking - if he sent it last week i'd have got it, so i think both of us are to blame maybe?

Can you not leave a note for the postman and ask him to sign for it and post it through your postbox regardless?!

If the seller can't be bothered to post your tickets for 4 days..I very much doubt he'll give you a refund ( hope I'm wrong though! ).

Not much you can do really, eBay are lame at helping at the best of times....let alone when you've bought something which strictly speaking shouldn't even be advertised on eBay.

Good luck and hope you do get the tickets in time...

if i had known then what i know now
  • Also, if seller posted it Saturday then even *if* it arrives today it may arrive too late for the concert. Personally I think maybe seller is stalling time, or maybe doesn't have the tickets at all but I could be wrong.
