sorry you've not had a reply - there are plenty of blokes at my work who cycle more than 10 miles each way to work - on ordinary bikes.

Why not stick the bike in the boot, park 5 miles away and cycle to and from there until you are used to the distance, then up the miles week by week until you no longer need to take the car - assuming you already have a bike, that is. Also, pump your tyres up so they're hard - the bike goes a lot faster.;)

Yes thank you for that, seeing as electric bikes seem a little bit expensive and dont generate a whole lot of interest maybe go down your suggested route !! Now which bike to buy there are loads out there, thanks again.

or just do as aurilo suggested and go for a normal bike. 10 miles each way is not that hard pedalling. I would be more worried about road safety but then using an electric bike is probably just as dangerous.

get a moped or 125cc geared motorbike. Costs £100 to do your 'compulsory basic training' (google for info) and once passed allows you to ride the aforementioned vehicles on L plates. My 2007 yamaha ybr 125 does 88mpg. that is calculated on my commuting usage :)

i have a pedal assisted electric bike.. would never go back to a standard push bike now.. it has a lithium battery which is lighter than the lead acid ones. it was expensive but just the job to get around on:rotfl:
