7&8 /03/09 What small dfw things have you done?? weekend thread

:DWhen we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free;)

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D

Today i will:
  • check online banking -
  • update spreadsheets
  • move some money to savings
  • make a loaf in breadmaker
  • storecupboard lunch and tea
  • laundry hokey cokey for OH
  • ironing for me
  • reduce, reuse,recycle one thing
  • swim and jacuzzi to use gym membership
  • aim for low spend day
  • plant some more seeds and do some work in garden
  • sparkle a lot
  • use lots of smilies to cheer me up:D
  • decorator free weekend

Woo Hoo it's the weeknd HSstars.gif HSstars.gif No decorators for two days:j :j

Off to town this morning with my friend, low spend day planned just veggies needed and will have a peek for any bargains about. No housework as all cleaning already done in the week so hopefully will get a bit of time to spend in the veggie area of garden.

Have a great day everyone, catch you all later xxx

    Anyhooooo, today's list:

    - post here to keep me on track

Today may be dangerous as I'm feeling the urge to splurge. Have a real need for some fabulous shoes, as well as wanting to booktickets for Spongebob live and Cirque de Soleil - eek! Watch this space, I will try to be good!

    I'll be paying my Orange mobile bill today (I've got as far as the 'your bill is due for payment' text);
    Signed up for something on Pigback to get another 30 points (leaving me with 30 to go to get a £10 voucher!);
And that will be it folks!
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

  • Hello Everyone :hello:

Ive not been on this thread before but I really need encouraging as I am so angry with myself for spending £11 on a round in the pub last night, its so hard as I havnt told anyone about my finances and other people have bought me drinks which I would prefer they didnt but it then means I need to get a round in too.

We also are going out for a meal tonight, so I wanted to spend so wisely as its not going to be a LSD.

    Anyway, today I shall

    Check online banking
    Washing at 30
Line dry rather than use the tumble
    Store cupboard lunch
Clean my little car ready to put it up for sale
Look for some competitions to enter - anyone know any good websites?

Im going to offer to drive to the meal tonight and then I wont drink alcohol

Morning everyone! It is the weekend at last :j :j :j

Good to hear that Mrs A2B is up and about again, and that SM has a decorator-free couple of days!

So far this morning I have:
Put a load of washing in at 30 degrees
Started tidying up messy house, which I couldn't do yesterday as I had to work my day off  AND my job is such that I do not get paid for it

    Seen to animals
Checked online banking - as expected
Received cheque for £2.12 from envirophone for an ancient mobile phone that I found in a drawer -not much, but every little helps! It also helps to keep things out of landfill, and I am all in favour if that :T
I also went through Quidco, so should get another £4.50:T
HM breakfast porridge and an elderly banana

    Later I will:
    Continue tidying chaotic house
Do a bit of shopping sticking to list
Storecupboard meals for me and old friend who is going through a nasty divorce, and is coming to stay for the weekend to get away from it for a couple of days. OH and DD have gone to see OH's mum, who hasn't been too well. I didn't go this time because of prior arrangement with friend. MIL lives with OH's sister a long distance away, so they are staying overnight, so nice evening to just catch up with friend tonight.
Take little dogs for a walk for free exercise later on

Tomorrow - probably just collapse in a heap with the thought of work again the next day!

Have a nice weekend everyone
