Don't confuse the issue with some facts :D

And where does this magical money come from? Who creates it?

It comes off a big machine, they put in paper and ink and what comes out we like to call money, people die for it, spend their lives chasing it, get uptight about it on forums such as this one and I have been mugged for it.

But you know what, its just paper, if you look at it, it says I promise to pay the bearer, we are just conditioned to think its magical when really its just paper, it's the biggest scam in the world.

We are a bit short at the minute so I hear they are cranking up the machine.

Why anyone who works thinks they pay for scroungers is beyond me, do you really think you would pay less cash if there was no JSA or incapacity benefit. Its just a tool to keep us all in line.

If it went tomorrow, the universe would not implode, the world would not stop spinning, but humans would, panic, hoard and kill, when was the last time you saw a tiger fight for a 20, don't get me wrong, I like shiney things as much as the next, I love a 'bargin', i'm in the loop and money is in my life, but I know what it is and I know what matters, hell I love this site.

But people you need to relax, it's only money.
  • As an example, 1 in 4 people of working age in Liverpool and Glasgow are on Incapacity Benefit.
    How is this possible???

Pure massaging of the unemployment figures. Labour reduced unemployment but created a lot of sick people in doing so.

I can't help but feel that the nature of work has changed over the past fifty years from the days when many putting widgets together was a major source of employment. These days more advanced skills are necessary and employers are much more wary to avoid employing people who will not fit into the work environment. Employers will avoid like the plague people with poor interpersonal behaviour or any indication that their health problems will make them unreliable, let alone the more severe problems of learning disability or mental illness. It is harsh to blame people caught in this trap, or even the gov't given that gov'ts of both political persuasions have struggled with this problem and not yet found a solution.

There's a huge difference between being unsuitable and being disabled. I know someone who hasn't worked for over 18 years through "incapacity" who is quite capable of major (and I mean heavy/difficult) DIY projects on their home despite being "unfit for work".

this is the change that has happened now, given that incapacity has been dissolved.

Basically before, if you were unable to do your job - say you were a builder by trade- ands you ended a wheelchair user after an accident- then of course you cannot be a builder again - ergo- incapable- incapacity.

Now the change- as I say long overdue- is to say to people- ok you cant do your substantive career, but you are capable of doing something else - eg desk based work.

The stupidity of the suituation is when this has happened. It owuld have bene significantly better to do it when we are a boom. Now we are in one of the biggest recessions the world has ever seen- which empoyers are taking on at the moment- and why would they be taking on people who havent worked for years? It is going to be very tough for these claimants- its tough for those of us who find ourselves redundant and are up again 150 people for an admin job.

Too little, far too late, thats this government all over :wall:
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

It is possible that his problems are intermitent or that he is not good at social interactions and relationships with a boss or a customer or that for any one of a number of reasons that he can only work too slowly to be of value to an employer. If he has a record of these type of problems an employer won't touch him and indeed if they are so serious as to cause major health problems he is only being prudent not to try to lie his way into employment.
  • “The bill proposes a number of Draconian changes including:

Phasing out income support for single parents and cutting incapacity benefits for disabled people

Cobblers. Disabled people are losing nothing - their benefits remain protected. Scroungers claiming Incapacity benefit who give disabled people a bad name are getting their benefits cut.

Oh no, trust me, it's as intermittent as the disability only appears when he gets assessed. He also knows every insurance scam in the book. There are genuine claimants, and there are lots of clever ones. ......... ever wonder why the "where there's blame there's a claim" type ads are always shown on daytime TV?
