    We are flying with Thomson to Kefalonia and i have checked the other end nothing to worry about there.

    If he has to go on a escalator then so be it, i'll drag him on kicking and screaming one way or the other!!

    does there not have to be stairs everywhere in the event of a fire drill? or does an escalator count as stairs in an emergency?

    On the ryanair sat when you fly in there are stairs, lifts and escalators to get down to the ground level and this, I assume, would be opened up in the case of a fire, and as you said in the case of a fire the escalators would stop and they would become stairs.
