Faulty ugg boots

much to my excitment my husband agreed to buy me a pair of ugg boots because i did not trust any internet sites thought might get a fake pair, i went to westfields and bought a pair from the ugg shop. to try and save some money and only having small feet i bought a kids pair. no one in the shop said anything to me about any rule on adluts buying kids boots, so i went home very happy, but the boots still cost £85. having only wore then twice the sheepskin ripped up the back of one of the boots, so i called up the shop and they informed me that they would not change them as they are only for children and when i explained that no one in the shop told me this they just said it was there policy, there is a card in the box but does not state any of there policy's on returns does any one have any advice to help me

I wouldn't have thought it was any of their business who was actually wearing the boots? The fact is that they are not fit for the purpose they were intended. It sounds like they would have ripped whether it was an adult or a child wearing them.

I would speak to them again and tell them you are going to speak to Trading Standards if they cannot resolve the situation to your satisfaction.

Im no expert but the Sale of Goods Act 1979 might help
Aspects of quality include fitness for purpose, freedom from minor defects, appearance and finish, durability and safety.

Just take them in to the shop, point out the damage, show your receipt and get a refund/exchange. You don't have to specify who wears the boots. If they ask, say it's your daughter.

It makes no difference who was wearing the boots! If they were the right size then it's none of their difference. If you were a size 10 trying to shove your feet into a size 4 then that's one thing but it sounds like the person you spoke to just doesn't know what they're talking about. I would go into the shop and try to return them and I bet you wont have any problems. If you do ask to speak to a supervisor and make a complaint.
