New Apple iMac - I want one, but how can I get a discount?

I really, really, really want the new Apple iMac, (released this week - March 5th).
Does anyone know how I can get a discount as spending £1500 is simply not an option.
I can get 6% discount through my jobs benefit scheme but it's not enough.
Do Apple do discount codes?

Well the 20 inch model starts at £949 and the 24 inch at £1,199, so you don't have to spend £1,500.
If you know any students, they can get a discount as well as discounted software and AppleCare.
Or, if you wait a few weeks, the new iMacs should start showing up on the Apple Refurb store. It'll be like new and come with a full warranty.0 -
i just bought the imac mini for 500 pounds, its great!Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000

For a brand new, recently-introduced Mac of any sort, your only real hope of a substantial discount is to find a relative who can qualify for an educational or occupation-related discount.
Macs are expensive because of the amount it costs Apple to research, design and build computers so desirable that people will pay for them.
But before you sink money into a new one, have you actually tried using such a horribly glossy and reflective display for any length of time? Or even at all?
It's still (just) possible to buy a matte Apple standalone display - and I would (with one of the new Mac minis).
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:

you'd now be better off living in one.

Thats shocking.... they have upped the price for the cheapest iMac from £791 to £949!:eek:0

I've never been tempted by an iMac. You have to throw away a perfectly good display when the computer part becomes obsolete.
Well, to qualify that, the non-glossy screens were perfectly good, anyway!

*chuckles to self*
The words cheap and mac dont go together, its commonly thought that its these words that are the driving force behind the universes expansion, and possibly the cause of the big bang too.0 -
Funnily enough, I just put in an order for a refurb macbook which came in at £799 rather than the £929. Next problem is how to move my iphone over to the new laptop. Check out the refurb store for anything that catches your eye...Space for rent, apply within - Free trial on Thanks button though0

If you know any students then use them to get a discount which I think is about 18% I had a look at the refurb site and if my son used his discount on a laptop then a new one comes in cheaper then the refurb price. I also asked and they do not do a student discount on the refurb ones.0

I have a white iMac, and I love it to bits. The new aluminium ones are really nice, but I won't be upgrading until they're quad-core.0
