Got my free copy today and it's the happy issue which I already bought

No freebies in there either, I know it's a free copy, but it's a bit cheeky to send that one as the next issue will be out soon won't it

    Anyone else had theirs yet?

That's a bit naughty, forgetting to enclose the freebies! I haven't received my copy yet, but I did buy the issue in question just to get my hands on the free Neal's Yard moisturiser. I'll be watching my online account like a hawk, as soon as the £1 goes out the direct debit will be cancelled.
  • Got my copy today and letter yesterday,Just a note,I subscribe to about 10 different mags and I NEVER get the freebies, its v. poor I know, they must just want to save on costs for postage etc!

"""""I also got my leter yesterday, and it said the payment for £1 would be on 25th March and then sub payment of £16.odd would be on 26th. So I rang them and said canyou cancel the second payment, and he said he couldnt until the first one had gone, so he said hed have to put the second payment on hold until the first had gone through, then I could ring and cancel the second properly. How come they let you cancel, did he just fob me off. Im now tempted to ring again, cant understand why he couldnt just cancel it."""

    IN ANSWER TO YOU..................

I actaully cancelled the direct debit on my own bank account online...think I was a bit hasty though now as they hadn't taken the 1st £1.00 yet..ooops oh well!

That's a bit cheeky though......You should be able to cancel at any time no fuss....well its the 26th today, off to check my account for history.

I cancelled the dd (online banking!) after the one pound went out before they took the next subscription payment.

I got the free gift too!! I have also had magazine subscriptions before and have always got the gift!! Call them and complain!

Yes I did think it strange, Ive never had bother before with cancellations. He did say that the £1 had got to go through first, which Im sure they did say on the phone when I first rang them for the free mag. Its just really odd that they want the subscription payment the next day, neither of which have actually gone through. Im gonna ring them tomorrow though.
Also about the free gifts, I've always had free gifts with mag subs, so was a bit disapointed with marie claire for not giving it. They usually do give them with mag subs, I think they're just being tight cos they were freebies.

Personally, I would call them up and complain and either leave/stop the DD or threaten to leave- if they warn you that you signed up for 12 months, state that they are not giving you the full mag- the freebies are missing, if everyone did that, they may soon get their act together and start giving the freebies out!
