What other features has Premium got that Basic lacks, isofa?
All you need to know here, versions with all features listed in a table:

Basic is heavily crippled. It was offered to system builders for pennies, but virtually no company offered it as a serious product on a machine because it is so bereft of features, XP has much more as standard.

For me the big advantage of premium is that it has the Windows Media Centre as standard.
That means that with a tv card fitted I can plug it into an aerial and pick up all the freeview channels. I can set it to record things I want to watch later on the hard drive using the 7 day programme guide and either watch them on the pc or burn them to a dvd (after editing out commercials).
Media Centre takes care of all of that and deals with photos as well.I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
I'm not losing my hair... I'm getting more head!!0
