I remember Wilson well. The Blair of his day. Many parallels between the two :- excellent politician who could fool most of the people most of the time; lousy Prime Minister who left no positive legacy worth speaking of; slippery customer who ran with hare and hunted with the hounds; made such a shambles of the economy and public finances as to virtually bankrupt the country; resigned at just the right time (for him) leaving a shambles to a successor who had hankered after the job for years and who was destined for almost certain electoral ignominy.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.
