set of kitchen switches/sockets

I am looking for some cheap but good looking switches/sockets for the kitchen.
They will all need to match,
double sockets
2 x dimmer switches
something to switch cooker on/off and w/machine above worktop
I have got myself an extractor fan so if this needs a certain type of switch.
Anything else i may have forgotten
Wouldn't mind a metal look, but not flush fitting. (as they never sit flush.)

Thanks,
I had already checked wilkinsons and screwfix and was looking for a better deal.
Nice site socketsandswitches but again i thought were too dear for my budget. I know its only £5 and £7 on budget range but overall could work out quite expensive. Might well have to be plastic and replaced at a later date.0 -
then you need check out toolstation set up by the former owner of screwfix and is now loads cheaper than screwfix as they now owned by b&q . just did all my kitchen with the polished chrome sockets and they where half the price of screwfix and b&q and all good quality have a look yourself!

I think you should stick with plastic
I wouldn't buy a metal socket in the £5-£7 range; I would be back to replace it soon.
You get what you pay for with sockets. Why take out decent plastic sockets and put in nasty metal finished ones?
I'd see the point if it was a property you were renting and didn't want to blow the budget in case it got damaged by tenantsbaldly going on...0 -

NO they are not . they have the same parent company ie Kingfisher.personally i would stick to the plastic ones as the metal finished ones can scratch easily .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Screwfix is owned by Kingfisher, Toolstation is linked to Travis Perkins.
yes im aware screwfix is owned by kingfisher as is b & q , which is what i said origionally. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Believe it or not the only switchs/sockets in my kitchen are 1 old style light switch and 1 seen better days double socket very low to the ground. I need a complete set as i am getting the kitchen ready. I know i could replace them at a later date but thought if i saw a set i could have them fitted in 1 hit. If i paid £5-£7 a socket it would have to last a lifetime. Will keep searching, if not hopefully somebody might refresh their kitchen and have a complete spare set.
I did look at toolstation and didn't think their was enough choices available in any given range and also not much difference in price to the others, but worth a look.0 -
I have to admit to having the flush fitting sockets you do not want but I used the Volex metal satin ones from Screwfix and they are very good sockets with smooth switching.
I agree with your comments about them never sitting flat to the wall but that is not the fault of the sockets, it is the fitter of the socket. Mine were installed "professionally" and I then had to go round all sockets/switches and make them level and sit flush. It was not a hard job but took several hours and that attention to fine detail is just additional wasted time to a tradesman installing to a quoted price.
If you cannot find metal ones at the price you want to pay then good quality white plastic are very smart. I have just replaced some Wickes home brand sockets with ones from MK (also Screwfix but B&Q were selling them at £1-£2 each so I got them from there).
If you are getting an electrician in (instead of simply swapping over the face plates yourself) then look at bringing all the isolation switches together in one neat panel. I had the MK Grid system installed and have a tidy bank of 6 switches all together with the name of the appliance on the switch so you know what turns what on/off.I am looking for some cheap but good looking switches/sockets for the kitchen.
