How to take DFW forward?

I am not too sure about this; I tend to respond to a lot of newbie requestS and do not often read diaries or challenges.
BUT
Diaries inspire newbies. Challenges are for those who have got their feet under the table.
What would be very useful is a sub-forum (even if the posts migrated to and from) for any post that had no response in the previous 12 hours if the post count was less than a specified number (5???). That would highlight new threads that needed attention and stop newbies falling off the radar. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
can i ask how many times does this have to come it ...it seems to rear it's head every few months or so and really gets annoying0

I probably now mainly come on for the challenge threads, but then I also try to offer people help and advice as I see posts pop up. If the challenges were in a sub-board then I wouldn't see so many of the other posts. Challenges are also where lots of people are doing some genuinely amazing work and I think they can be as inspirational as the diaries (which I confess I rarely read) and are really accessible to newbies to help them start to chip away at their debts. BUT all that I have just written can be reversed to be pro diaries for people that like diaries more.
Perhaps we're not asking the right question. Perhaps we need a poll: "What do you come on here for?"

When it fails. When it is unambiguously seen to fail (which given a state of denial could be quite some time). And when it fails so badly the pieces no longer quite fit back together again.
Then it will no longer be mentioned.
Much.

I think ZTDs poll options are a good idea.
This question of putting diaries into a sub section comes up over and over again along with polls and always with the same results.
Personally I think it's a bad idea to move the diaries but it looks like MSE have already made the deciscion.
A lot of newbies like to join in the diaries before posting a thread of their own and can also see that there are ways out of debt.
I find a lot of the newbie questions are about DMPs ..I think you need a sub board for DMPs.
Most of the people with Diaries are paying their debts in full often in what seems like impossible curcumstances so actually show newbies what can be achieved with determination and help from friends on MSE.
I feel newbies may miss out on 2 scores if the diaries are moved:
(1)Newbies may not be confident to venture to a sub board
(2)Newbies may not get answered if all the diary posters are in a sub forum.0 -
Not a definate decision as yet, Martin has posted to say he may trial a sub-board for a month but if you want to be heard please use the official thread.0

Yep. Please do.

Although chaotic at times, I confess to liking DFW as it is and certainly would like the diairies to remain in the main board.
I spent a couple of weeks reading posts before plucking up the courage to post. I have been made to feel very welcome posting on various diaries and feel that a sub-forum would make them somehow inaccesible to newbies -fear of being the new girl etc. The diaries have provided the greatest support of inspriation for me, as I'm sure they have for many others.
