Thanks everyone.
I got the job contract through the post today. It seas 'You'll work 4 hours per week'. I'm hoping I can get a few more hours out of them. It does say 'You may be given more hours on a rotor' or something similar. I'm on a probation period for 16 weeks.
I have 3 training days. All either 9am-5pm or 10am-3pm. They haven't said anything about being paid for this, only 'Life as an employee for you starts Monday 16th' which is the training day.
Am I likely to get paid for this?
I've had to take 3 days off 6th form, which I'm going to have to say I was ill for, as it's strictly no absences as a result of work.0 -
Wow a whole 3 days for training?! Bloody hell.
Its Easter in a few weeks couldn't you go then rather than miss college? (unless you definately can get days off without too much reprocussion!)
I don't get paid for training days, just a heads up.0 -

They can't be trained. They gave me the dates of training in the interview and I said it was fine. In my contract, it has the dates and seas if you cannot come to these training days, your contract will be terminated and job offer removed, so I think it's best that I attend them. :rotfl:
3 days off college shouldn't be too much of a problem.0 -
An awful lot of unemployed students are lacking in initiative (waiting for a job to come to them) or slow off the mark (waiting til they have run out of money) or think certain roles are beneath them (unwilling to clean or work night shifts).
I relocated to Bradford two years ago, an area not known for it's high employment rates nor it's tourist industry! From applying for college to actually moving was just six weeks yet I had two offers of part-time work on the table when I arrived.I posted out over thirty CVs on spec, came up on the train for two interviews a couple of weeks before the move itself, chased up every CV with a phone call or personal visit. There's work to be had if you really want and need it.
Too true...there are jobs out there and employers gladly looking to take on students, part-time, evenings and weekends. You just have to get up and find them or try www.shiftshack.com they target hourly paid casual/short term staff ie: students, and you get jobs that fit around your studies etc. Well worth a quid a month, you'll get that back with one evenings work.0 -
Well done, fantastic news!0
