Cancelling BT, oh how they want to keep me.

Ok so I phoned BT to get my MAC code, long story short, Tiscali are charing £153 for 12 month, around half of what BT are charging, so my 18 months is up and I phone ready to give my notice.

They asked me why im leaving , who im changing to, the price their charging, and the list goes on. So after I gave all this they "undercut" the prices by -£50 a year, yup their best offer was £17.50 a month instead of the £15 a month through Tiscali, Dont get me wrong, I wasnt even wanting an offer, but they gave it the hard sell and finally I just gave up trying and ended the call without giving my notice to leave BT.

I have an online account with BT, is there anyway I can do it online without some Del Boy making me an exclusive offer that everyone should be getting?

All I need is my MAC code and an easy way out of BT (still keeping my line rental with them).

Anyone else hate phoning to cancel a contract?

Beware Tiscali, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your contract!

Seriously Tiscali have an appalling customer service record, price isn't everything.

Just stick your ground and keep insisting they produce your MAC.

Three tried and tried to get me to stay when I phoned for my PAC recently, I just kept saying that it didn't matter what they offered, I wasn't interested. They phoned me the following day after they had given me the PAC and tried to get me to stay, I just said I was leaving and they were wasting their time.

I find it quite comical when they try the hard sell, if I have made up my mind to leave they don't stand a chance!

Can't be worse than TalkTalk - who hung up on me twice after the hard sell from retention- i mean, cancellations - 3rd time I called it turned out actually the ordinary operator could make a MAC for me but passed me over for the hard sell :(

I requested my MAC from BT online yesterday. I put "request MAC" in the search box on their site as I was just looking for a phone number. On the results page, I'm sure it was the second link I clicked on and there was an option to do it online, so I did. You just fill out your details and why you want your code. Got an email saying I would receive my MAC within 5 working days.

But I'm sure it said they might give you a call to discuss offers. So far, no phone call! If they do, I'll be telling them I want away. They've already given me offers to renew my contract, but I just can't afford them anymore.

yup their best offer was £17.50 a month instead of the £15 a month through Tiscali,

Given Tiscali's reputation and if you are happy with BT Broadband it might be worth paying the extra £2.50 a month.

Tiscalli were ok when I was at uni. Ok, there were a couple of times we lost connection and they have a stupid fair usage policy, but most do nowadays.

Although I would definetely recommend Sky rather than Tiscalli. BT is way to expensive for broadband.

Received and email from BT today and not the phone call as I expecting. They're offering BB for £19.57 per month for a 12 month period. They're also offering the black BT home hub and telephone free of charge. WOW!! :rotfl:

I have a hub phone and TBH, I think it's only ever been used a few times.

I have the BT Vision box which is in the kids room and I subscribe to the kids pack But I'm fed up with having problem after problem with the box, so it doesn't bother me that I'll lose it.
  • Finally called them back for the mac code and they agreed £15.16 a month, I accepted that from BT.

option 3 with a black Hub.

Sky's prices are also INCLUSIVE of VAT. BT's are not.

Yes they are. Not sure why you think otherwise.

Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?
