I have shiny hair (some days I have to use a mattifying spray!) and I use conditioner with every wash and leave it on for a good 5 mins or so.. You have to wash it out well though. Also like the person above said, rinse with cold water at the end. If you blow dry it make sure you point the dryer downwards rather than blast it, as this will make it fluffy and not sleek. These things are good for healthy hair not just shiny.

You can get stuff like TIGI dream drops and various serums, however I don't find them to be a huge amount of use and they can make your hair look greasy. A friend of mine used to cover hers with egg like conditions, then rinse out - don't know how it worked exactly, I assume you need cold water or you'd end up with scrambled egg! Anyonme tried it?

Me again. :A Yes, to use egg as a hairmask, you mix one egg with 2 tbsp olive oil and 1 tbsp honey, then warm the bowl gently in a saucepan of water while stirring until the honey has dissolved so the egg does't cook! Apply with a hairdye brush. Rinse and wash as normal. I used to do it after I'd been swimming as a deepconditioning treatment after the exposure to chlorine.

You seem to be concentrating on shiny hair, not many people have the shiny hair you see on advierts on the telly 'Dont take your mums comments to heart too much, I,m sure it was said with the best of intentions. She loves you, and she wants to see you make the best of yourself. You, yourself said that you have got fatter, i bet you didnt even think of it until your mum said anything. She just wants you to look good. Tell you what, take all your clothes off, (in the privacy of yur bedroom of course ;) ) are you happy with the way you look, if you are then just say 'booloks'
and put your clothes back on' If you can see faults that you would like to improve on and only if you want to do something about it then do some exeercise every day, eat sensibly, smaller portions, drink sensibly, do the naked bit every day or mayby just once a week and and look at yourself and say ' God, am i beautiful or what ' Amazing what the human mind can do
Please dont take offence, i am talking from experience as a mum
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

My hair is already as straight as a die:rolleyes: I do use conditioner but not on every wash. I have just gone back to using Redken - its something I used from when I was 18 right up til 2005 then I stopped and now I am back on it.

I haven't heard of shine drops but if they make my hair shiny then I will have to get some.

As for my mother - she makes all these remarks because in her eyes I am a complete failure:rolleyes: Still, that's her opinion and I don't really care what she says (I am 47 for gawd's sake and the way she goes on you would think I was 5:mad: ).
    She sounds toxic:mad:

Start picking on her faults and see how she likes it!

I use Naked Bodycare shampoos and conditioners from Boots, they are free of SLS and lots of other chemicals, and my hair has never been softer or shinier.

The products are not expensive - about £4 each, and they often do BOGOF offers, or Buy 1 get 1 Half Price.

At 47 I will be happy if I have any hair never mind shiny hair!
A couple of years ago all the hair at the front of my head snapped off and wouldn't grow back it took 2 years and is still very fine now but I don't care.
Don't take any notice of your mum, there are more important things in life than how shiny your hair is, look after yourself and be happy x

not sure if mentioned above as not had chance to read all -sorry!

not to use too hot water on hair, just tepid and a cool water in final rinse will close and flatten the scales of the hair shaft.

to increase intake of egg - rich in vits for hair (some even use is on their hair as a mask).

not to use hairdryer much or hot tongs, chemicals like dyes etc as they are damaging.

    hth.

    Hiya!

My hair and nail health has been much improved since taking vitamin D supplements. If you don't like fish and codliver oil turns your stomach, you can get supplements which contain only vit D, gelcaps are best.

Also, for serious shine, I use coconut oil on my hair length and ends - not scalp else you'll be a week in the shower washing it out :) I do this for an hour before washing or overnight.

Washes out surprisingly easy and my usual shampooing does the trick. I also use a little conditioner at the end, my hair's very long (waist length) and needs it or else it goes WAY too fluffy :D

    Hi

Just thought I would add my little bit about the water temperature. I have relatively shiny hair that is in good condition. I just warm (not roasting) water to initially wet my hair, then I shampoo and wrinse in cold water, basically as cold as I can bare it. I have mid/long length hair and it is pretty thick so I need to condition, however I only ever condition from my ears down. I find that anything abouve makes my hair lifeless and dull. HTH
Its hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........

People tell me Im going the wrong way..............when its simply a way of my own!

Do you like avocados? They are supposed to do the trick. I eat them as I like them and I think my hair is shiny, although I also dye it - to cover the grey - and that def makes it more shiny.

Mums, eh? My boyfrind is a former hairdresser and says I have lovely hair, but Mum often says it is looking lank etc etc and a sure sign I am not looking after myself properly...

Getting some nice conditioner should make you feel "worth it!", because you are.
