I have signed up today for Sky Talk Unlimited (as part of a TV/Broadband package - Total £22/month) but keeping BT Line Rental (only 50p/month more than Sky Line Rental) so that I can easily...I think!..go back to BT if Sky start ignoring 18185. I intend to use 18185 instead of Sky to call UK Mobiles and those countries which not included with Sky Talk Unlimited and to 0845 and 0870 numbers which I can't find on "SayNoTo0870.com".

Have just checked Sky's online Tariff and Charge-Band pdf's which show the same rates per minute (plus same 7p set-up fee) as BT to call 0844 gateways which I intend to use for countries which are not covered by Sky Talk Unlimited or cheaper than 18185.

Unless I've missed something I don't think Sky ignoring 1280 calls to BT will cause me any problems. Let's see!

I can be a "giunea pig" and shall give feedback here on how I get on....but what do you think of the plan so far?

You're right, 0845 and 0870 calls are likely to be the problem area.

However, as it happens, 18185 (or, more accurately, 18185 via its gateways) is cheaper most of the time (except for 0870 calls weekday evenings) anyway.

EDIT 21 February 2009 : Primus's Indian Call Centre personnel appear to be denying all knowledge of Penny Mobile 2 CPS now and are suggesting that Primus Saver CPS requires an 18 month contract. I have sought written clarification from them and, if that is not received withing 14 days, I will withdraw the above recommendation and, incredibly, start recommending BT's Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan via a 'renewable' 12 month contract instead.

§ Since 1 November 2008, Primus Sales and Customer Service departments have been outsourced to India and this is seen, by some, as a retrograde step. However, because it does not change the value it offers for (no) money, that fact is merely noted at the moment.

Is there any update from Primus on the Penny Mobile availability Heinz?

Doesn't look very encouraging. It seemed a very good deal but the lack of response to your emails is worrying. I'll check back later to see if you ever get any response. Thanks for your interest.

I'm trying the suggestion of jhp above but, in view of the lack of response to my emails in the UK and the ineptitude and general hopelessness of Primus's Indian call centre, am leaning towards the no CPS option now.

Hence, the 'no CPS' version of my 6-steps to reducing costs is the best I can offer at the moment.

I notice that there are no "Terms and conditions" for the above "my0870" web site. Why ??? I would certainly sign up if I knew what I was signing up for.
