I've just been in to lloyds to open a Basic 'cash account' and when they credit checked me they offered me a classic account, even though I have a realy terrible credit record (3 ccj's and lots of delinquent credit accounts) I was shocked to be offered a Cheque book, £400 overdraft and £250 CG card. Am i right to worry? When I was in the branch the salesman had a notice flash up on the screen about my credit history and they just rang up head office and over-rode it (I think they thought I didn't notice) Account is now open, mobile phone insurance active and awaiting cards and pin.
Are you sure your new account is a classic? Lloyds TSB classic card do not have £250 CG. You mentioned you have mobile insurance with your account. By the sound of it it is a packaged account. What does it say on the card? Silver? Gold? Platinum? Premier?
It doesn't add up. Got CCJs and you got £400 overdraft, 250 CG. You either are very lucky or maybe the credit reference agency they credit search you do not have the CCJ's on file enabling you to pass. I think by the sound of it, they over rode it so that they get commission!!
Sutton111, maybe you could give Lloyds TSB a try and see what they can offer????0 -

phone insurance comes with their value added accounts for which you pay a monthly fee (and i expect they get commission for it)...
can't see phone insurance on their classic account at all
