  • I would speak to your GP and ask his advice, maybe in the first case without taking the little one along, and see what they advise - it may also be worth asking if there is anything like a 'emotional health and wellbeing team' within children's services in your area.

    Just a few thoughts...
has anything happened in his life that may be worrying him? (bereavement, loss, seperation, domestic violence or conflict?) and, when you have spoke to his teacher, whether anything upsetting has happened at school?

Even if he is 'just' seeking attention, it indicates that he needs some attention - have you tried asking him if there is anything worrying him, or anything in his life he would like to change, just gently, in conversation, to see what he says?

There may also be some relevant info here- http://www.youngminds.org.uk/parents/

They have a parent information line which may be worth ringing for a chat - (0800 018 2138. We now have extended our opening hours to: 10am-4pm Mon-Fri and 6pm-8pm on Wednesdays).
