F*****G Fuming with EDF

Apologies for the aggression except i have just got off the phone to EDF. My bill arrived about 10 minutes ago Gas bill that is. We are in a rental property and i am also just on Switch with which to get a better package.

But previous bill's were

£45.58 for 5/9/08 27/10/07
£57.49 for 25/9/08 19/11/08

today its come in at
£246.62 and what did they say?

Well usage will go up over the winter period. Really? I understand it would be on a bit more over winter but we are a 2 person 2 bed household both work mon-fri full time so the usage increase i can't see being 5x the normal.

Rant over

Any advice and anyone have any input on switchwithwhich.co.uk??

You won't be surprised to hear that other people are experiencing similar bills. If you have gas central heating, winter use is normally more than 'a bit more' but this winter has been so cold that most people have had or will have very high bills this quarter.

I know physics is a much deprecated subject and university departments are being closed down and the new GCSE replacement is a [STRIKE]pathetic[/STRIKE] offensive joke but all these posts with the same complaint are getting a bit silly.

    It is not rocket science.

And after doing the switchwithwhich online tariff check tad dar cheapest is EDF

But granted at the moment we use edf for gas and Eon for electricity hence why i'm keen to change

I am not arguing that it has been cold so we have used a little more and that i'm to dumb to realise that more usage means higher bill. I am stating the fact that i'm shocked an average bill of around £50-£60 is now over £200

Have they billed you incorrectly. i.e. used wrong rates or over estimated readings

If not then why rant, they are billing you for what you have used.

Maybe previous bills had some estimated reading. It is wise for you to check your own readings especially if bills are estimated. My own bill was £176 but probably should have been closer to £200 as reading underestimated.

Bear in mind that it's not just the high usage, but also the price hikes will have really shown here.

Either we've given them the readings or the 'meter man' which points the high bill soley to us. but i cannot see how the usge would increase that much.

I'd be very interested to see what a 3 bed with 4 person famliy would be if our's is that high

First bill above has invalid dates
It's pointless too compare todays bill against those above. Those above are not for a full quarter and not for coldest winter months. Assuming current bill is for the last 3 months approx.

Plus price hikes and coldest winter for many years

We read our meters every week. Since the beginning of November, our cheapest week was last week when we used 15 imperial units (approx 465kwh) and the most expensive was 37 units (approx 1147kwh).

Unfortunately, this year, most weeks it's been more than 25units.
