    Hello Charlie.

I have had car insurance for lots of years but i have been told that CIS
are pretty good for young drivers, worth giving them a try!!!

also try a search engine as my daughters came out cheapest on elephant. Use confused.com and comparethemeerkat etc.

    It won't be cheap !

£2420?! I would try the usual suspects - confused.com, compare the market.com. Even the major brands may surprise you - I got my first insurance with Fresh Insurance, they were pretty good.
  • are you still in education ??

Endsleigh were very competitive for my sons first year and did a student based policy

also worth doing the compare sites and playing around with the quotes, try adding Mum or Dad as a named driver, change the excess amounts, try and calculate your yearly mileage accurately , see if it decreases the premium any

good luck , it is tough for the first few years and being a male even tougher

it will be cheaper to get insurance before you past your test. Leaner drivers are classed a safer risk, due to having a 'competent' person sitting next to them, so premiums are lower. Also adding parents to the insurance as additional drivers, may help bring the premium down

pass your test and then get insurance, all the insurers see is a 17yr old lad, on the road without supervision. been there, done that (not as a lad lol) and had many a prang! so they were right lol

But surely you have to notify them when you pass.
I don't know if you were suggesting it's cheaper if you make an amendment later, but you will have to inform them.

and i was only planning on getting insured once i pass.. but i need to have a car lined up and was just pricing up insurance for the car i had my eyes on..
would it be cheaper to do it now while i have a provisional? and what would i do once i pass? would i have to notify the insurance company and what they add more money on?
    Many thanks

best to check any policy, but no, you dont have to inform them until it comes to renewal time.
