would it be cheaper to do it now while i have a provisional? and what would i do once i pass? would i have to notify the insurance company and what they add more money on?
    Many thanks

it varies from policy to policy but if the insurance and vehicle are registered to you in the first instance it might not make any monetary difference [ once you get a policy you are happy with you can ask about this before taking it out ]but you should tell them once you pass as you become a bigger risk and if they dont know you now have a full license could invalidate any claim if you need to make one

pass plus also gives you a discount if you do this straight after passing with many companies

best to check any policy, but no, you dont have to inform them until it comes to renewal time.

they need informing of any changes along the way as they happen ..... dont give the insurance companies any reason to invalidate your claim

some things dont make any difference to the premium but they need to know just in case you claim

most insurers will say you dont have to notify them of any changes other than on medical grounds, or change of address, during the course of the policy. Getting points added to your licence or passing your test can wait until renewal

i agree about the getting points (tinkerbell84 will testify this is correct!), but i don't think the rest is correct

I would guess most insurers will need you to tell them straight away if you pass your test. Also there are other examples where you need to tell them straight away - changing vehicle, adding drivers, changing occupation, if you modify car
