Hi,
This is probably a pretty basic question, but I have just got a new Nokia 5800 upgrade that I'm thinking of just selling instead of using, it came with a new sim... I intend to carry on using my old phone, do I need to change to the new sim, or do anything??
I've only changed phones once before!

Thanks.

no need to turn phone on before selling it and certainly don't give them your new SIM !

Is your old SIM very old - it may be 2G and the new one will be 3G

Is the 5800 unlocked ? if you are on O2 it probably is. Would be worth trying with a SIM from a different network to be sure

Thanks, have sorted it now I think...registered the new 3G sim on my old phone (SE k850i, which I think is 3G anyway??)
Im on Orange, not sure if its locked...how would I check? I've got a spare 02 Pay as you go sim... Would it be better to sell Unlocked?
    Thanks again.

orange usually locked but put the O2 payg sim in and find out

Unlocked phones fetch more but you have to pay for unlocking

If you're eBaying it, I think it's always worth getting it unlocked before you sell it. People want to be able to get their new phone and use it straight away-I've even had people ask me if I can pre-charge it for them, so they can use it the minute they get it! Just make sure when you put it up you put Nokia 5800 Network Unlocked in the title.

I'd sell it as locked tbh, normally too much hassle and risk to unlock and the prices don't change much imo. Have a search on completed listings and compare unlocked and orange phones. Newer Nokias aren't easy to unlock.

its locked - orange usually are

I'd avoid any free/cheap unlocking - it could trash your phone

It may cost you £25 to get unlocked ! Might be worth trying orange
