Ba Club or Virgin Upper

Hi,

I am going to new York later in the year, and currently the prices for BA Club or Virgin Upper are roughly the same.

Anyone any opinions on which is best please?

Will probably be spending quite a bit of time in the lounges beforehand, so thats a factor too.

Cheers,
Karen

Flown both (but not been in BA lounge).
Virgin lounge is awesome. Lots of MP3 players lying around. Spa for free treatments. Pool table (my personnel favourite). Lots of space! Been in 3 times and it's never been crowded.
On board Virgin is also better in my opinion. Comfier seats, you don't have to climb over people if by the window. Saying that I've only flown club once and that was 2 years ago. i believe they've had an overhaul since then.

VS seat is better than BA.

Don't forget with Virgin Upper class you also get chauffer transfers at both ends for free too!

Virgin Upper beats BA Club for sure.

airlinequality.com reports definitely seem to give BA Club the edge over Virgin UC.

Depends on what your priorities are:-

From my experience, BA has better in flight service, booze and meals. T5 is miles better than T3 as a terminal.

VS Club house is impressive, and novel and a bit more fun.

VS seat is slightly bigger, but I enjoy the Upper Deck on a BA747 much more private.

Chauffer service is restricted so check it is available.

Coming back, BA has it's own terminal at JFK, pre flight dining is also handy.

I would buy BA due to staff, meals & booze, but not a lot to choose between them.

In all honesty the relative merits of the lounges are much less important than the quality of the onboard product. Moreover , if you're only going to New York it's probably not worth spending the money on Club/UC anyway as it's such a short flight , at least according to a friend of mine who's a pilot with Virgin!

Onboard I'd take BA. I think their staff are better.

Only if the OP is buying a J or D fare which I think is unlikely (probably looking at a Z)

    Hi,

    thanks for the replies.

Looks like not much difference between them.

No, the option for the Virgin Limo costs a lot more - cheaper to hire a taxi!

    Cheers,
    Karen
