Ba Club or Virgin Upper

Don't forget with Virgin Upper class you also get chauffer transfers at both ends for free too!
No you dont , you only get this if you buy the most expensive class of upper class seats
Ive flown Virgin Upper Class , not overly impressed tbh , lounge is nice , they didnt have us booked in for treatments ( even though I booked them over the phone ) . On the flight out ( nightime ) cabin crew were very helpful , maybe just to get us off to sleep lol, on the return it was like being on the Marie Celeste . Beds are rock hard and you are cut off from travelling companions , not much room in the cabin .
We normally always fly Virgin for long haul and for the money I think the PE in the bubble are the best0 -

Of course it's short for a Pilot who's more used to flying to Australia. New York isn't exactly a hop-skip-and-jump.
His point was that an eastbound New York-London can take as little as 5 hours 30 with a good tailwind and that by the time you've availed yourself of the in flight service you might be lucky to get about 2 hours sleep so is it really worth paying all that money for UC? In his opinion , no. Others may have a different opinion which is what makes this place a great forum for debate.0 -
It's not unusual for it to take 2 hours just to get airborne from JFK. So yes, I think business class is worth the money. Are we furthering the debate?0

Hi,
thanks for the replies.
I have to admit, I looked at the Cab layout for Virgin and thought "oh dear, if you're anywhere near the bar its going to be a bit noisy and light", and for that reason will probably choose BA.
Cheers,
Karen
In my (limited) experience the bar is hardly the party section!
Mostly it's empty. I was sat in the row 2 from the bar and heard no noise or had no light issues.
Woke up from my sleep to walk back and find 4 blokes sitting at the bar. So I acted as barman (well my parents do own a pub). Quiet conversation all round...
Also, when you book use the Virgin website to choose your seat. On all occasions I've managed to get an UC seat in the bubble (except the one time i've just explained - when we were upgraded at the gate).
On the subject on whether to upgrade - If you can afford to - do it.
As mentioned previously the flight "might" only be 5 1/2 hours, but that still means 7 hours (+) onboard.0 -
I have to agree with the above comment regarding the bar area - its hardly a disco area !
There is low level lighting ( purple ) that really does not effect other pasengers and there is also wardrobes on either side which also blocks the lights.
I have just worked the flights from London- Hong Kong and then on to Sydney and the amount of people that used the bar was few. From Hong Kong - Sydney there were a few that had a light bite and a few glasses of wine, but as crew we ensure that noise is kept to a minimum, not that the passengers were shouting and screaming.
Again as also said above, if you are worried about being near the bar, then you can select your own seat online 24hrs prior to departure and/or with the concierge within the ClubhouseI am a Travel AgentMy company’s ABTA number is V2043.
