Visa card rfeused abroad, any thoughts???

    I have also been told that transactions at Walmart in the US are regularly declined due to a lot of fraud at that store. I had to wait the best part of 30 mins for a small transaction to be authorised, will avoid using a card at Walmart now.

    I don`t actually know who I spoke to when ringing the number on the back of the card, she did ask some security questions, so presumably she knew who she was talking to and said the card was not blocked.

    Even if she `lied` to me as has been suggested, why would the person at National then lie to her customer (the ratailer) about not dealing with Halifax or Lloyds.

    I have used the same card before and after this incident (all be it for smaller amounts) without problem.

    As for notifying the card issuer you are going away, no I had not, never needed to before, I will in the future.
    I will speak to Halifax when I get home and try to get to the bottom of this.

  • It is true that National do not deal with Halifax or Lloyds. They will deal with Visa International who will, in turn, deal with Halifax or Lloyds.
