When we bought our kitchen last August, the kitchen workshop told us we'd be probably be cheaper sourcing our own appliances. I have no idea how much theirs (CDA) would have cost, but we got our own (Hotpoint) and they fitted them when we got the kitchen fitted. We have a CDA sink. It's okay - feels a bit thinner than some others i've seen (ie Franke).

If you can stretch to it, i'd go for a double oven. I just couldn't manage without a separate grill.

John Lewis own branded appliances are made by AEG...Just thought I'd add that...

AEG is part of the Electrolux Zanussi group so products that are now badged as AEG come from the Zanussi factories not from Germany and like wise John Lewis branded products and made by the Electrolux Zanussi group.

CDA products are mostly made in Italy out of the same factories as Indesit and the like. They are just an ordinary Italian appliance brand.

Strange then ..... that all my CDA appliances are plated 'Made in Germany'?

I had a Belling built in double oven that lasted me 14 years and could probably have had the door fixed but it looked a bit out dated as it was white and SS was all the rage. Cost me £500 so cost me £35 a year. I still have the same hotpoint gas hob and it's in VGC and I can't find an excuse to replace it!

I had a Bosch washing machine that cost me almost £500 and it lasted just 3 years and had been fixed twice before I finally decided enough was enough. for the last 7 years I've had a Zanussi washing machine and it's been fab.

Changing a built in oven is a DIY job so it's no big deal if you need to change it. Also styles and fashion changes i.e. white is out, SS in. Just changing an appliance can update the kitchen but sometimes when you have a quality item you've forked out a fortune for and it's in full working order you begrudge it. I paid a bargain £310 for my Electrolux built in double oven from Empire direct and if I use it for 5 years before changing I won't be bothered. It does the job and looks good.

CDA started in 1991 as an appliance distributor from Nottinghamshire they soon started to commision factories across europe to manufacture a range of appliances for them and brand them as CDA. So really there actually isn't a factory with the name CDA above the door.

Sorry, I have to disagree with part of this, yes, AEG are part of the Electrolux group BUT their ovens, hobs, combi ovens, most cooker hoods, fridge/freezers, washing machines and dishwashers are still made in Germany (I was at the factory in 2006) the rest of their appliances are made in Italy, Turkey, Spain and other countries in Eastern Europe, along with Zanussi and Electrolux. (Some Electrolux products are also made in China and South America) The appliances were rebranded AEG-Electrolux to try and raise the profile of Electrolux (which will never work) NOT because they are of lesser quality...
