Orange broadband don't keep your old package

I am fairly new here and have been with Orange for ever. I had been paying £17.99 per month for 8 Mb with 2GB limit. Thinking this was excessive, I called them, asked for my MAC code and got a 10GB upgrade for a monthly price of £9.79.
Perhaps not the best broadband deal around, but I have halved my spend. Quite pleased. Now should I have held off for a better deal?
Just goes to show, always give your provider a call.
