Yes, I do it all the time. It's always useful to have a couple of packs in store in the freezer for those 'creative baking' moments (when you know that if you go to get some you'll come out of the shop with at least £10 off other items )

  • I freeze butter in 2oz blocks and just take out as much as I need. Its a self-protection measure, because if I didn't do that, the pack of butter would be gone - used up on hot toast! Oh, but I just  hot buttered toast. So, for the good of my health, it gets carved up and frozen before I can get any ideas.

Home made butter?? I'm intrigued!! Is there a thread somewhere that details how to do it? We prefer the unsalted stuff - and making it yourself guarantees that's how it is. :)

All you do is put a pint ( or how much you want ) into a jar and shake. It will turn into butter after about 10 mins.

You can also put it into a Kitchen aid or kenwood if you have one.

Once it has seperated you will have a solid ball which is your butter which needs shaping then putting into the fridge. You will also have a milky liquid which is butter milk. This can be used to make pancake or scones ect..

    Yep, what FunkyFairy said!

I do it in minutes in my kenwood. Its absolutely lovely!

The family love it on homemade bread.... and so did the builders. They just wanted homemade bread and butter with a cup of tea!

There is a long thread on here about buttermaking, its worth a look :D
