hi everyone, i bought a nikon d40 camera last year online from tesco direct, which i love but i have had loads of problems with it, at the moment its unusable again, ive already taken it to nikon house in richmond to get fixed for the same reoccuring problem at my own travel cost, i seriously think my camera is a faulty one and i wanted a replacement but tesco told me i need to contact nikon, nikon told me i cant have a refund/replacement, i just wandered if anyone had any advice, my camera is less than a yr old and its just not working, even though its well looked after and i love my camera.

Hi and welcome to MSE
First of all , it seems like your camera is definetly faulty as the problem keeps recurring. When you went to tesco and they told you to contact the manufactuer (NIKON) , they were wrong
Don't let them pass the problem on , stand your ground as becuase you bought it from them , they are responsible. They must get in contact with the manufacturer not you.
So when you can , go back into tesco where you bought it and state to them that they are responsible as they are the retailer and not to pass the problem on as its there duty to contact the manufacturer. Hopefully they will take the camera and repair it or replace it. If they repair it and it turns faulty again i would demand a replacement
Stand your ground and don't let them get away with it , see a manager and state the law, its there problem under the sale of goods act
And if they refuse , get in contact with your local trading standards , that should sort it out
I hope this helps
Kind regards
CLLC
P.S. if you keep having to ring Nikon use http://www.saynoto0870.com and get a cheaper number to ringThis will save you some cash on the phone bills
 I am great , yes I am
:rotfl:If you think I was useful , Thank you, for thanking me

thanks for replying, i bought the camera from tesco direct online though it was delivered to my local tesco for collection, so far i keep on getting told to ring the tesco electrical helpline, for my camera there isnt an option to talk to someone from tesco, it puts me straight through to nikon, who keep on telling me to bring it upto richmond to get mended.0
