The problem you have is that no self respecting RGI will fit ANY gas appliance, domestic or commercial, if there is and insufficient gas supply for the appliance requirements. Any gas appliance found to be suffering an insufficient gas supply is instantly turned off and a warning notice attached. Even if you are only planning on using 2 hot plates at any one time, its a major no-no.

Anyone got the maximum flow through standard pipe sizes?
In kw/h and the op will have an idea of what to ask for?

Tricky one. Its the resposibility of the landlord to ensure all gas appliances are in safe working order. This is done via a yearly landlord safety inspection, usually done during annual servicing. Depending on what the terms of the lease are and if the landlord deems any longterm benefit from the work, he may pay for it. Personally, i think you may end up splitting the cost.

    Hi

Do you know the gas consumption of the cooker in m3/hr (cubic metres per hour)
and any other gas appliances consumption. (It'll be in the installation manual. Or what is the make /model of the cooker you are going to use.)

    Edit

You are all a bit cart before the horse. The OP doesn't even have a meter yet!!!
Why are you wanting upsized pipe? A whim?

the cooker isn't his so i suppose it isn't his responsibility to check. The gas has never been used in the building hence the capped pipe. Cooker is only gas thing in there. Been told its 40kw, don't know m3 and no manual as its second hand. sorry.....

    Hi

    So about 3.7 m3/hr.
Have Transco fit a meter. If that is all the gas appliances you will ever have then a standard U6 meter will do. This is capable of passing 6m3/hr of gas.
A commercial Corgi will take it from there.
He/she will need the installation manual for the cooker .Contact the manufacturer for a copy.

    I know it's not Transco.......
