Help, am trying to install a commercial gas cooker in new kitchen for work. Been told needs 40kw/hr of gas. Problem is, the premises only has a gas pipe that can supply 29kw/hr of gas. Will this cause the cooker not to work, or will it just have low pressure? Will it be OK if we only used oven and 2 burners??? advice please...... thanks!

Hi...you've missed my point: you need a RGI i.e. registered gas installer for this work.See more here

Whats the point of having a commercial range if you can only use one burner at a time?0

oh no, I'm not fitting it!!!! don't worry, would never do that. Sorry, my wording was wrong! Just trying to establish if need to get larger gas pipe fitted by Transco as we have to have a commercial cooker, or whether we can keep it as it is, just suffer with slightly low gas pressure.0

Hi...you need a site visit by a RGI to determine the requirements via appropriate testing.

There isn't really anything to see at the site. Transco been out and said that the capped gas pipe will deliver 29kw. Corgi guy says cooker needs 40kw. But niether guy was there are the same time... just wondering if anyone knew what might happen if they were connected. Don't really want to call Corgi guy again as he was a bit smarmy and quote was stupid (not being cheapskate... it really was!)0

Hi
Just to be clear. Do you have a gas meter ?
Or do you have a pipe with a cap on it and no meter , nothing, just a cap?
How did Transco arrive at 29kw?

no meter just capped pipe. Transco have to install the meter. Transco guy measured the pipe (i think).0
