Someone in the USA has given me a number suffixed with 'mms.att.net' to which I'm supposed to email from my pc.
Does anyone know anything about this and whether there are any costs involved for ME..?

if it's an email, it can't cost you
AT&T is a phone company - in this context you're sending the message to a mobile phone. Quite a few networks have this possibility of an email address [EMAIL="phone-number@network"]phone-number@network[/EMAIL] (though I'm not aware of UK ones)
