It's one which was designed for the magazine (Sewing World September 2008). I had to adjust it slightly as I found some of the measurements a bit off, and a couple of the instructions weren't very clear, but it came out fine in the end.0 -
Maybe if I google it I will find it or something similar. I just saw the rag rugs thread and thinking I will have a go at that too! So nice to be back into doing these sorts of things, I have quite a stressful job (which I love) so have found this really relaxing.
Have you been sewing for long or are you dabbling - confidence to adjust a pattern is not something I really have yet!Happiness is wanting what you have...0 -

This is such an easy pattern, it would be really easy to alter (only three pieces, plus the same for lining and wadding). I haven't got the confidence to adjust clothes patterns yet - though I've got books etc on it. I did take my measurements recently to have a go but got very depressed at how big I actually was so gave up :rolleyes:0 -

Its scary when you are a shop say size 12/14 and find when you make your own you can be up to a pattern size 16/18.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Exactly! Have to say I wasn't pleased when I was making up my pattern and I was a size 16 when in clothes shops I am a very comfortable 12 (in generous shops a 10!). Although now its home made it has no size as no label! Yay!Happiness is wanting what you have...0 -

I feel exactly the same! In fact I haven't been brave enough to make something from a pattern yet as I keep getting shocked whenever I measue myself:eek: I've made skirts based on skirts I own but I really want to make myself a dress for spring so must just bite the bullet! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I guess its because shops have changed their numbers over the years to cater for our vanities but pattern designers haven't!:D0 -
I suppose the only good thing(s) about it is that nobody will know what size you are, and they should fit properly, which is more than can be said for bought clothes, and if well made they should last longer than bought tat.
I have made clothes for myself in the past, but didn't know then about the 'vanity sizing' of bought clothes, so would cut out the pattern based on the size I was in bought clothes ("the measurements on this pattern can't be right!") so nothing would fit . I also didn't know (but do now) that patterns are cut for a B cup, and I've always been hovering around a D, so the darts would be in funny places  I'm really going to have a go at making myself something simple like a shirt (if I can find a good pattern). I find I really relax when I'm sewing so do need to get onto making myself some clothes (I'm in desperate need of some)0 -
Bunny 200. It is great to follow a pattern and make something unique although I have a skirt that I lovve but doesn't fit so was thinking of making one using that as the base.
Justamum. I am a 'b' cup so patterns suit me fine! Gosh I would love to make a shirt, I have some gorgeous thai silk I was given that would be beautiful as a shirt. My problem is that I find a shirt that I love but want the sleaves from a different shirt and dont have the know how to mix and match! I am not toching the silk until I have made a good few items and developed some skill!Happiness is wanting what you have...0 -

Bunny if you buy a European made pattern like Burda and measure yourself with a measuring tape in centimetres, it all becomes a lot less 'personal' - can be a good trick sometimes."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0
