It isn't silly to us at all.
But. It's just you started on about not needing to get the light fixed as it's perfectly well lit - that's a really bad thing to think let alone say.
And you're only a landlord by accident not intention. So you've perhaps got your penny pinching head on much more than someone who's chosen to be a landlord.
Your LA sound troublesome - and that's something you need to sort out.
Landlords must think about the health and safety of their tenants even if their wallet says not.0 -

Thanks Sarah
Yeah, I just thought that when I was living there the hall was so well lit that not having the light there wasnt a problem, as it wasnt for me. I didnt think at the time of fixing it as it hadnt been a concern of mine, it wasnt as if I have such contempt at putting my hand in my pocket that I had no intentions of fixing it, nor was I unwilling to pay the ridiculously (:p ) high price of £40 to get it done.
Thats why I dont want to concentrate on the 'light' as an entity, but more the procedures and practises of my LA and their actions that have annoyed me.0 -
Yeah the LA sound a bit rubbish tbh so you should probably look around - or save the 10% and manage it yourself.0

You need to talk to the LA and get them sorted out. Sounds like the blind leading the blind. You should sign a contract with them that outlines what they can and can't do without your permission. I would expect a LA to carry out small repairs without refering to the LL but then I would expect the LA to supply recipts and monthly statement of fees for your accounts so that you can fill out your tax return.
Are you paying VAT on the LA's fees?0 -

Oh my God THANK YOU!!!! :T
Three pages and my point is finally coming across!! Thats exactly what they're not doing, as well as not keeping me in the loop which is bugging me. As for VAT and fee's?!?! I dont really know, I know they did me a 'deal' and knocked £4 a month off their standard 10% fee, but everthing else is mist. I havent had any paperwork to look at! I've definitely been far too trusting, but like I said it was a decision that had to be made very quickly and I dived in with eyes shut, but I will certainly be looking for a new LA once the 6 months is up. Preferably a local one from the links provided by Clutton! :cool:0 -

:rotfl: Haha, very... urm... constructive!!
I've stated I dont have the time or knowledge to be a LL myself, I'm not hiding that fact.
And anyways, who are you talking about? I'm a 'he'!! :mad:0 -
