BTW is Stephen King now on the GCSE syllabus :D

Really? I'm a big fan of his, especially like "The Stand", he writes a great description of a society in meltdown.

What if all the electric and water stops working. people are starving and short of water, are you going to help everyone and what about the next day when you have no water for your family?

Its all very well saying I will help people but what about the next day when you are desperate?

I will happily trade what I have for something I want but if someone trys to take from me without my permission then I will use my firearms to protect my stores.

I also have a crossbow and sorn off shotgun.

I have a very sort after small holding with fruit and nut trees also veg growing. In the future hope to have chickens maybe a goat for milk and keep pigs for fattening up and eating.

My point is when people get hungry they seem to think they are entitled to what others have just because they think they need it. Thats why its better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun a not have it.

I also have an old fashioned well which along with collected rain water can provide for my family if mains water stops working. I will sell this water in these hard times to come but also I will protect this well with lethal force if necessary.

I briefly started tapping out a response to this but then stopped on the basis that you're quite clearly a little bit mental. I've highlighted in bold what I preceive to be the most Uri Geller-esq moments of your post.

    Tin foilness at its best.

    Love it.

I loved the line in the middle which was just on it's own and simply said:

"I also have a crossbow and sorn [sic] off shotgun."

It couldn't have been scripted any better.

Hope for the best but plan for the worst.

That's the best anyone can do.

Can't believe I've missed this thread, it's right up my street.:D

Civilisation in it's current form will cease to exist, we have just had the first few 'pre-tremors' of the collapse. The real deal will commence in a decade or so. Our current lifestyle is based completely around cheap fossil fuels, whose tenure is coming to an end, renewables will not work and will not scale.

War, famine and desease will devastate the human race, bringing the global population down to a more sustainable 2 billion people before the end of the century. At this time I believe a better more sustainable future will grow from the ashes of the ponzi scheme scheme of infinite growth that we all (well most people) feel is sustainable indefinitely.

I wish I was around to see that 'new world', unfortunately I and my child will be in the thick of the 'dismantling' of our current society. It won't be pretty but if you have knowledge and can forsee the problems before they come, you give yourself the best chance of survival.

Just to edit, having read the post from above a shotgun will be a must, crossbow maybe better as you will be able to use it silently to protect your family.

I can't stop reading this line. It's like the monologue that Linda Hamilton does at the end of the first Terminator film when she's at a petrol station in the desert looking a photo of her son.
