Thanks for all your replies, there is so much choice now - I'm tempted to go for the Park Inn as it's new.. Is that probably the best one in the area and are there any nice restaurants around where we'd beable to get dinner - we'll have the car so 15 minute drive wouldn't be a problem.

Is it quite near the Trafford Centre ?

Are any of these hotels quite near restaurants at all? We will probably need to go to a pub or restaurant for a meal on friday eve, and looked at TGI in Trafford Centre but not sure how far away this is..

Are there any nearby restaurants where we might beable to get any good deals/offers.. Appreciate any advise if you're really familiar with the area

For breakfast happy with just getting a snack or McDonalds meal..:p

Depending on the time of day, it's 15-20mins drive to the Trafford centre from Leigh and there are some really good restaurants in the area.
    Two personal recommendations are...

Or you could try the Park Inn at Leigh also for £39 per night. It's a brand new hotel that only had it's opening night a few weeks ago and they are concentrating on getting people to visit it to get the name established. I've heard good reports so far... I'd say that's a great deal...

Thanks Blue264, went to this hotel which was really good! Was so impressed..

In the evening we went for a meal to :-
    Vermilion Cinnabar
Lord North Street, Hulme Hall Lane,
    Manchester, M40 8AD

The following evening though, we were taken by friends to The Lal Qila, 5 Red Lions Road, Maghull - you don't want to know about this meal - I've written on Consumer Rights forum about my experience!

If you live in Manchester and enjoy Thai food, I thought Vermilion Cinnabar was fantastic - great food and ambiance.. Set meals for £20 or £25. They do asain food aswell, but we had Thai when we visited. Wish I lived nearer so I could go again
