Selling car - but no interest!

I listed my car on Autotrader about 10 days ago and recently dropped the price but I've had no interest at all, apart from the one call and text from the companies telling me they have a buyer.
It's a VW Polo diesel and is just over 4 years old with 49,500 miles on the clock, and is up for £4999, similar models have higher mileage at that price.
I've not even had any calls making stupid offers, I was selling the OH Mini last year and we had more calls for that then this.
Am I doing anything wrong or are things just that bad at the moment?

I was expecting around £4 - £4.5k but didn't want to drop it to that price yet as I know people will try to haggle me down more.
I did have a car supermarket and dealership look at it and they both said I should get around 4.5k for it private2p off is still 2p off!0 -
I don't know what the market is like on ebay for more expensive cars, but it is a good way to advertise and sell a car, have a look. How about on a VW owners site, I have had success in the past. HTH.0

Unfortunately car sales are not too clever at the moment (the same as everything else)
But you could do a lot worse than try this one...

Good luck with the sale

The thing is we all know how this is going to play out. When things start to improve with the state of the £, no finance and car manufacturers running production lines down in year or so cars are going to be horrifically expensive.
If you are one of those folk who buy a new car and run it until it dies this has to be a great time to buy.0 -
Don't know which one yours is but here you go as an indication:-
Volkswagen Polo E
1.4TD Diesel 3-door Hatchback
5 Speed Manual Front Wheel Drive
Year: 2005 05
Mileage: 50,000
Part-exchange Price:
Excellent condition:
£3810
Average condition:
£3470
Below average condition:
£30600 -
I had the same problem as you. I found I got a good response towards the end or beginning of the month, as this is when most people get paid. Saying that, it is a bad time with the market and all, I am sure someone will come along. It is also worth checking in the mean time how much you will get for it if you were to part exchange it...Good luck mate0
