Sky +

I ordered sky HD, received an e-mail on the sat as delivery day the monday, so phoned up to cancel, gave my reason as paying an extra £10 per month when I will only have 3 packages is a waste of time plus the fact I will have multi room to pay for too - was then refunded my £49, and given sky+ box, standard sky box and installation for zero, zip, not a bean:D :T0

ive got a sky+ box already through circumstance but will soon be signing up to the above deal as a new customer..how do i get the extra box installed by the engineer and should i tell sky to set up a multiroom or keep quiet about the extra box0

Can I suggest you check the Grabbit forum as there are several threads dedicated to putting the screws on Sky.
I used them myself on Tuesday (the best day of the week to get deals apparently) and what I did was the following.
1. I called to cancel, I explained that I was moving onto irregular shifts of early-mid-late over a three week cycle and therefore would be missing all my favorite shows, so I needed to cancel. I explained how this bumned me out since I'd been a sky customer for years and liked having it. (incidentally, the shiftwork was a complete lie, but the thing is that it is a plausible lie)
2. The sky fellow I spoke to (Scottish as all cancellation staff are apparently) then asked me if I'd considered sky+ as an alternative. I explained that I had, but that the 150 pounds for sky and the connection fee was well outside of my budget during a recession, and furthermore that I thought it was unreasonable to ask me to pay that sort of money to do watch what I was already watching.
3. He then offered me the installation for 49 pounds and no installation fee and I explained that I was really tempted, but that it was still too much, and he dropped it to 15 pounds and no installation fee. They're coming round on the 21st to install it.
The key points for getting a good sky deal seem to be. Call on a tuesday or wednesday. Be friendly, but firm about your need to cancel. Give them believable reasons, but don't overdo it. When they eventually make an offer that's good enough, accept it.
I really really wish I'd remembered that Sky HD was going for 49 pounds when I called though, because I think there's a good chance I could have convinced him to give me the Sky HD+ box for 49 pounds with no installation fee.
Hope this helped.
Proud to have dealt with my debts!

What is your point? The call centre is based in Scotland, hardly shocking that the staff are Scottish :rolleyes:We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -

No need to be sarcastic Zenseeker. I had no idea the service center was in Scotland. I'm not entirely sure why you would expect me to know where the call-center for any given service was physically located.
I had merely noted that in some of the other threads various people had noted that the cancellation people were predominantly Scots-accented and that mine had followed that pre-established pattern.Proud to have dealt with my debts!

Thank you bluenose5, offer worked great for me. :beer:The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

If you want to ask for referrals then you need to post on the referrals board & not the general topic boards Irr.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
