If you collect tesco vouchers do look at their deals as quite a few places are covered by them which will help with the cost quite a bit.
If you have not been down here before don't forget the free (or almost free) things, especially if you get good weather.
That is coastal walks (plenty close to where you are staying), moor walks (cheesewring - near Minions) and visiting fishing villages and towns (newlyn, st ives, looe, polperro). You can spend a day pottering around, people watching and [erhaps treat yourself to a boat trip or pub lunch as well.
Beaches are the next big thing. Some beautiful ones. If you get the weather an swim, what about giving bodyboarding a go? Can pick up bodyboards and wetsuits pretty cheaply in some supermarkets, trago etc
Now to the pay things - Eden is well liked - look at the website to see if it appeals to you. Children enjoy Flambards and Crealy. Plymouth Marine Aquarium is good but quite some way from where you are staying. Newquay Zoo is sweet and, if you fancy a real treat, they do junior keeper
. It's not cheap, we paid about £55 a child, but as well as the child and one adult per child entrance we had all day there, a couple of hours with the keeper which my son loved, a goody bag and I think lunch as well for the child. We went a few years ago, so for up to date details take a look at their website.
If you have National Trust membership or love old buildings and gardens take a look at whether National Trust Membership is worthwhile by looking at their website for attractions in the area.0 -
Must be 10 years ago and before kids but we went to Flambards which was a good day out. staying at same haven site ourselves in August and plan to have a day out there using our tesco vouchers. http://www.flambards.co.uk/0

I live in Cornwall (Falmouth) so maybe I'm a bit biased and say it's all lovely. It depends what you like doing really as everyone has said and how old your kids are. Also the weather is a great deciding factor if you want to walk or spend time on the beaches.
The Eden project is brilliant for all ages and very interesting, it does get busy in the summer though but is huge so you don't notice once you're in. There are several boat trips from Falmouth, up both rivers either to Truro or Helford passage or out to sea across to St Mawes which has a matching castle. There is a zoo at Newquay if that is your thing and a miniature steam railway and visitor attraction at Newlyn East (Lappa Valley)which is not far.
Flambards, already mentioned, is great for all ages, the Victorian village and "Britain in the blitz" are indoors and are fascinating and the roller coasters, small rides etc all good but you need a nice day for those. Ditto Lands end.
If you like cycling you can hire bikes at Wadebridge and do the "Camel Trail" to Padstow which is a lovely place despite Rick Stein with nice walks etc around the estuary.
St Michaels Mount is great, you can either walk across to the castle if the tide is out or get a small ferry, it's National Trust to enter the castle. There are lots of National Trust properties and gardens in Cornwall and the online first time membership is very reasonable. Glendugan has a maze!
Try the Cornish information and tourist web sites. Have fun!! Don't eat too many pasties!0 -
Hi Jamo,
according to this you get in The National Marine Aquarium cheaper after a certain time, so may be worth thinking about.
Gweek Seal Sanctuary is lovely and although it is sometime since I've been, Flambards was most enjoyable too.
I've just heard Simon Calder on Radio 2 saying that if you want to holiday in Britain this year, be prepared for a huge influx of people from abroard as the exchange rate is so favourable to them, so don't leave booking anywhere too late as, for once, UK is the place to be!
