yeah tell me about it, this really is the last one. I have actually got to say out of the 4 banks, A&L have been the most helpful and professional out of the bunch. Chelsea and mansfield wanted all sorts of paerwork off me, because i bank with A&L they want bank statements and one months payslips:D

just noticed on my keyfacts that it was showing that the valuation wasnt to be refunded so phoned them up and there is a problem on the A&L systems sometimes it adds it as to be refunded others it doesnt. So for me its very good deal.
Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!

Well that's me got an AIP and applied. It says it's been referred and they will contact me with details of further info they need. Not sure if that's the norm or whether it's because I changed employer recently although it's in the same line of work and I was with my previous emplyer for 11 years so hopefully not an issue. Just wait and see I guess although we do have a backup option sorted out.

Trig, have you moved house in the last 3 years? our application was referred and it turned out there is a glitch with their software that sometimes it puts your last address as your current address which caused the problem. they phoned us the day after we put the app in and sorted it over the phone.

Clairehi, no we have been in our house for almost 5 years so only had to put in details of our current address. The job change is all I can think of but should find out later today what it is hopefully.

Just had a call from the post office. Apparently it was some sort of system glitch re money laundering. Well either that or my wife is up to something I don't know about. They say they have approved now pending valuation payment and will rerun the address details.

Thats exactly the same problem as we had - the system had put our old address in as our current address so we failed the money laundering check. hmm seems like they need a software upgrade!

I'm a bit confused as we didn't have to put in any address details other than our current one. Not going to worry about it anyway as seems to be sorted. Paid the valuation fee now so back to them.

hmm didn't realise about the A&L valuations using the HBOS calculator. Depending on which side of the fence we land South West/South East puts us either within £2k of being over 65% LTV or £10k if we are in a different region. Their regional map doesn't really show accurately what region you would be classed as..,,do we risk the £370....

Can you make any over payments on the a&l mortgage? Just read about it and says
Early Repayment Charge: You are only tied into your mortgage during the fixed period.
Repay all or part of your mortgage before 30 April 2014 and pay a fee of 3% of the amount repaid.
Am I being daft lol? We are currently allowed to over pay on our mortgage up to £5000 a year.

You can overpay 10% per annum (pretty standard with A&L) without incurring the repayment fee.
  • I've got my valuation arranged for next week- I take it at this point, that we've passed the credit checks etc, and the only obstacle to the mortgage offer is the valuation coming in at under 75% LTV? Or do they do the valuation first, then do the credit-scoring?
